Commentary
Dazhu is the meeting point
of several channels on the upper back, and its main
action is to expel invading pathogenic factors. In
modern terms this means, mainly colds and the flu.
As this point is located on the Taiyang channel,
the channel closest to the surface, it is particularly
useful for the early symptoms of a cold or flu, namely,
headache, sore throat, and cough. As well, Dazhu
is the Hui-Meeting point of the bones and
as such, is particularly useful when early symptoms
include neck rigidity, pain and stiffness and other
signs that the bones have been invaded. A Hui
Meeting point is
where the Qi of specific body structures
concentrates. In this case, the bones.
As well, Dazhu is indicated
for a variety of other bone disorders, particularly
in the neck, scapula and lower back regions. It is
also useful to treat bone contracture associated with
madness.
