Commentary:
Chengshan is included in the
grouping of the most vital acupuncture points known
as "The Twelve Heavenly
Star Points."
It is the distal point of choice for
the treatment of all kinds of Hemorrhoids. In Acupuncture
treatments, it is most common to treat a disorder
with points in the region of the disorder called 'Local'
points points and points at the other end of the involved
channel(s), or points that have proven to be effective,
away from the disharmony, called 'distal' points.
The TCM axiom is expressed in the phrase "treat
on both sides, above and below for all disharmonies."
Chengshan is also the local
point of choice for pain and spasm of the calf muscle
and the distal point of choice for pain in the heel.
Finally, Chengshan is often
recommended for Lumbar pain.
