Commentary:

Because of its strong action clearing heat, Quchi is chosen to treat most conditions involving excessive heat in the body, including, fevers, rashes, inflammations,

Quchi is often used in combination with Hegu (Li 4) to treat all kinds of fevers and other manifestations of heat in the body. Classically, Quchi was widely used to treat all kinds of skin disorders from Herpes Zoster to Pimples.

Like Hegu, Quchi has a particular effect on the head and all sense organs especially when heat is involved.

It can be very useful treating mania, depression agitation and epilepsy, when these condition results from Heart Fire.

In more modern practice, Quchi is recommended for the treatment of Hypertension. Often combined with Zusanli (St 36), reducing these points has shown to dramatically reduce excessivley high blood pressure.

Finally, Quchi is a primary point for treatment of conditions in the local area. Any kind of stiffness, discomfort of pain in the elbow, or along the entire arm is well treated with Quchi.
