The Fire Element
Favourable; Wood &
Earth
Unfavourable; Water & Metal

Summer is the time for the Fire Element. Its direction is South.
Fire signifies growth and full flowering, optimism, and joyous
anticipation ( of the Fall harvest).
Yang Fire is the burning furnace, the oven, bonfires, volcanoes
and the Sun.
Yin Fire is the lighted candle, the gentle warmth of a healing
hand, incense, nightlights. Red wine, pyramids, and cones may
also be seen to stimulate the Fire element.
The Fire Element is very volatile and needs to be approached
with caution and care. Ancient texts warn against doing anything
in too much of a hurry during Fire periods.
The Heart/Pericardium are the body's Fire organs. The colour
is Red.The sense organ is the Tongue, and the related internal
organ is the Small Intestine.
Signs of Fire disharmony are any kind of psycho-emotional disorder.
The ancients believed that one's true essence lived in the Heart.
This idea remains with us to this day. Do we not use the expression
'the Heart of the matter' to refer to the true essence of things?
The shape of Fire is the Triangle or Pyramid.
The Direction is South.
Fire is such a vital element that it is normally approached
with some caution and restraint. Just a splash of red will activate
the qualities of Fire.
Fire people are known for their volatile personalities, quick
wit, and intelligence. They also approach relationships, work,
and play with passion and enthusiasm.
Yang Fire people have a tendency to flare up and burn out,
while Yin Fire people have a way of emanating a warm glow.
Fire people are usually opinionated and single minded in their
approach to life, sometimes to the point of intolerance for
the views of others. Fire people will either succeed brilliantly,
often dragging others along with them, or they will go down
brilliantly in flames, again, often taking others with them.
Yang Fire people tend to be quite aggressive, even to the point
of bullying, while Yin Fire people tend to be better leaders
because of their ability to get others to 'warm up' to them
with their sensitivity and good humour. But make no mistake
Fire types like to be in charge, and all Fire types tend to
be volatile.
The Fire body type is angular, with sharply defined features
and a hurried way of walking.
The Snake and Horse are Fire Animals.
