Reiki is not a religion. It has no creed, no long
mantras to chant, no sacred texts or prayers to memorize. It simply
is the channeling of Universal Qi or energy, at the frequency
of and for, the purpose of healing. Once attuned and initiated
to Reiki, a student is permanently open to receive the Universal
energy as a channel. This enables the student to assist in the
healing of Reiki energy comes from Universal Qi and is called variously God Power, Universal Life Force, Cosmc Power, Heavenly Qi, and any of a dozen other names for the energy that is the motive force of the Universe. It is one of the few forms of healing that can be used to heal one's self and it is this quality that leads many to consider it an initiation into personal spiritual journeys. Mikao Usui is reported to have said that the only true healing is of the Spirit. Reiki does not interfere or conflict with conventional medicine or any other form of healing; instead it compliments and enhances the effect, speeding up the healing process. Reiki energy is pure. When it is combined with a sincere desire of the person receiving it and the clear intention of the person giving it an emotional and spiritual cleansing occurs, thus balancing the body, emotions, mind and spirit and creating the space within which healing can occur. Reiki energy is neutral. It awaits the positive will and desire of the recipient to manifest harmony and balance in his/her life. The Reiki practitioner, tries as much as possible to be a clear vessel through which the energy flows, keeping all ego, judgment, or even desire to heal out of it. Reiki energy, being an energy of wholeness will flow, like water through all the nooks and crannies and small cracks to the highest point of any blockages, be they in the body, in the emotions, in the Mental Body or in the Spirit. Just as water flows downward, surrounding and suffusing every single cell to nourish the body, Reiki energy flows upward to nourish the spirit and everything else along the way. It is said of water that it continually flows downward with an irresistible impulse to return to the Earth that gives it life nourishing all in its path as it does so. Likewise, Reiki energy flows upward to return to the Universe that gives it Life, nourishing all in its path as it does. These directions are of course, purely arbitrary, relying on gravity as an inherent variable. Another unique property of Reiki is that it can done anytime, anywhere. It requires no special tools, equipment, furniture, sacred prayers or chants, crystals, needles,etc. All you need to do to activate the energy is reach out and touch someone. If you do this with Love, the intention to heal and of course the permission of the one being touched, miracles happen.
