Reiki II is generally understood to be healing at a distance.
This is healing that a channel can do when, for some reason the
client is not physically present. The client can be anywhere,
except dead. Reiki II requires quite a bit more commitment from
the Channel. There are symbols, in additions to the hand positions
learned at the First level. The real challenge in Reiki II is
to remove one's Ego from the process in order to create a clear
path for the energy.
There are some variations on this level of practice. This is
the way we were taught to do it.
Firstly, we require a photograph which shows clearly the eyes
and the top of the head. No sunglasses or hats if it can be possibly
avoided. Except for these two requirements ( and if no other photo
is available even these two requirements may be waived), any photograph
will do. It can be a baby picture, even if the client is 60 years
old. It can be a group picture (make sure you indicate which is
the one to be healed), or an action shot.
We ask that the client's name be written on the back of the photograph
or on a separate piece of paper. Usually only the first name is
required. We do not need any more information than this. We do
not need the nature of the disharmony. We do not need any background
information.
It is a good idea to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope
with the picture for prompt return of the photo, and the notes
made by the Channel.
It is not usually a good idea to give this type of healing as
a gift. While we are no doubt, sincere in our desire to help someone
who is suffering, requests for healing must come from the one
in the picture. If you do desire to help someone, send in your
own picture for a healing. Guaranteed, the energy will find its
way to wherever it is needed the most. (hint; it's probably you.)
The picture is required to help 'ground' the energy and bind
it to the one for whom it is intended. The belief here is that,
as in many aboriginal cultures, a likeness such as a photograph
captures something of one's soul or essence. Come to think of
it, it is like a 'cookie' on your computer. It marks the individual
and provides a marker for the Universal Energy to become particularized.
Secondly, I use a pillow or some such surrogate to stand in for
the physical body. Once the second level symbols are made and
the surrogate body identified, the hand positions are the same
as those of Level I.
At each position, notes are made, something like automatic writing.
Whatever comes up into consciousness is written down. The point
of making notes is again to 'ground' the energy, bind it and particularize
it to the one in the photograph. Additionally, the notes allow
the client to participate in his/her own healing, at the conscious
level, by providing clues or messages that the client will recognize
and can follow up on.
Reiki energy is not bound by Time or Space. Theoretically, only
one Reiki II healing is all that should be needed for complete
immediate and spontaneous healing at every level of being. It
is, however, true that as long as we have a physical body, Time
and Space, are important considerations. Most of us, I dare say,
have some sort of belief that healing 'takes time'. Reiki II healing
notes, will therefore, have a long shelf life. They should be
kept in a safe place and consulted from time to time as the healing
progresses.
Of course, there is nothing at all to prevent you from having
more than one or many Reiki II healings done. The energy will
certainly honour that belief.
These notes are not channeled material in the sense of some non-corporeal
entity being 'brought through.' They are not an invasion of the
client's mind or privacy. It is not possible for the Channel to
interpret or edit messages as they come through. Whatever a Channel
thinks about what he is writing is totally irrelevant and invariably
wrong. It is up to the client and only the client to interpret
the notes, if an interpretation is needed.
They are a representation, a symbol if you will and an anchor
for the healing energy.
In my experience, Reiki II healings are just as powerful as Reiki
I healings. There does not seem to be much of a difference. In
all cases, the client's privacy is completely protected. Although
communication between client and Channel is by way of shared thoughts,
dreams, memories, experiences, language, invariably what is meaningful
for one will have a completely different meaning for the other.
Interpretation or editing of what comes up in the notes is not
for the Channel. In fact, in my experience, the energy shuts down
immediately if one attempts it. And by the way, the client will
still receive their healing regardless.
The main job of the Channel is to maintain the integrity of the
energy's pathway by not judging, interpreting or editing. Everything
that comes up must be written down faithfully, even those things
that seem like one's very own memories. We never know what is
going to have significance for the client.
If a client wishes to share with a Channel their thoughts and
feelings and solicits an opinion, there is of course, nothing
wrong with that. Only remember, all the Channel can give is an
opinion. It is up to the client to interpret the messages.
Reiki energy can only heal. At the level of soul, there is no
such thing as privacy. We are all one, at various levels we are
each the Divine Spirit in manifestation. In the eastern philosophies
upon which the theories of Qi are based, we are all interconnected
and connected to Nature.
In my view, the point of healing is to connect with the Divine
in each other and the Universe. The ultimate healer is the Heavenly
Qi, which, when perceived we may call, Ecstasy, Bliss,
Divine Love, Epiphany, Cosmic Orgasm, or any of a myriad other
names that describes the moment of perception of our selves as
Spiritual Beings; that part of us that is nameless and constant
in an ever changing Universe.
